And if you are going to make that investment, let’s make sure you end up with photos that reflect your brand in the best possible way.

Ask yourself these two important questions before your brand photoshoot.

Question 1 – How does my ideal client see herself?

The first step to planning your photos is to put yourself in your ideal client’s shoes and try to think about what’s her ideal version of herself.

Does she see herself as a professional? As an adventurer? As a mompreneur? Does she want to be a total boss or is it her dream to work from the cozy comfort of her sofa wearing yoga clothes? What is her vibe and her style?

It helps to turn that into a list of words that describe the overall look and feel: classy, casual, fun, energetic, colorful, sophisticated, etc.

Question 2 – How can I show up in a way that fits that vibe?

Once you have a list of words to describe the look & feel you are going for, think about how that connects with your personal style.

This may mean taking it up a notch from your every day look. Throw on a blazer. Get your hair styled and your nails done.

It may mean taking it down a notch and being even more casual than usual… maybe your photos will be primarily in your kitchen with a coffee and your dog by your side.

The trick is to stay authentic to who you are. You don’t want to end up with a set of photos that are basically a caricature of who you think your ideal client is. And you don’t want to present an image that’s totally off-brand for you. It’s kind of like false advertising if you are dressed like a corporate lawyer on your website, but then you meet your client on a zoom call in your yoga clothes.

The main thing is to plan in advance. You have a lot of aspects to your personality. Focus in on the aspects that align with your ideal clients aspirations, and you’ll strike the right balance. And then enjoy your amazing new photos!
