So when I say ‘you want your website to convert better’ what I mean is that when potential clients visit your website, they take the action that you want them to. Most of my clients want their website visitors to either:
1 – book a session to with them or
2 – download something of value in exchange for joining your email list
To get your website visitors to do one of those two things, you need to make a couple mindset shifts about your website design.
Being clear is more important than colors, fonts, and logos. It’s more important than creativity and uniqueness and style.
When you’re designing your website for conversion, it’s all about following a structure that’s proven. Everything needs to be SUPER clear, from your messaging and copy down to the direction and the flow through your website.
That’s where a website designer can be super helpful for you – cutting through all of the ‘design noise’ to reveal a clear message and flow through your website.
Oh yeah – you might be wondering about the consequence of not being clear… that’s simple. If your website isn’t clear, your visitors get confused and bounce from your website. A confused mind doesn’t buy.
The second mindset shift you need to make if you want your website to convert better, is that your website is not about YOU… it’s about your CLIENT!
You really have to stop talking about yourself. The secret to creating a website that converts is to put yourself in your clients shoes and see your work and your story through their eyes. Look at every piece of your website (every bit of copy, every photo, every design choice)… Ask yourself: what impression is it making on my potential client? Is she relating to it? Is it compelling her to keep going on the website? Does it make her want to take the next step?
Try looking at your own website with those two shifts in mind. Can make your site more CLEAR and more CLIENT FOCUSED? If you do those two things, you will create a website that converts better.
